YOUTH PWR INT’L DISTRIBUTES RELIEF ITEMS TO YOUNG PEOPLE IN LAGOS & IBADAN THROUGH IT’S COVD-19 SUPPORT PROJECT IN AFRICA.

In a bid to cushion the effects of corona virus pandemic on vulnerable young people in Nigeria, YOUTH PWR (Africa) saddled itself with the responsibility to help young people in some communities in Africa by launching its COVID-19 support project – #nextdoor, to support vulnerable young people in Lagos, Ibadan Nigeria and communities in the Republic of Ghana.

Almost a week ago, the support project took place in Lagos and Ibadan Nigeria where over 380 young people benefited from the support project in both locations. As part of the project, activities that took place included the distribution of food and grocery items, personal protective equipment such as face masks and hand sanitisers as well as essential products to vulnerable young people. The project also included youth engagement sessions by YOUTH PWR officials for the young people in their communities about COVID-19, highlighting on the facts and myths around the virus. There were also distribution of internet data to young people to boost their COVID-19 sensitisation.

The YOUTH PWR team ensured the beneficiaries observed a high level of hygiene and social distancing where possible, while handing out face masks and various food and essential items to the people under strict supervision and orderliness.

The organisation also urged the people to take their safety as priority and reminded them of the importance of washing their hands regularly, maintaining good hygiene and adhering strictly to the safety precautions as directed by the government.

The #nextdoor support project is scheduled to commence in communities in the Republic of Ghana from Saturday 6th of June, 2020.
