In the presence of a record-making crowd at the Mapo Hall venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ibadan, President Muhammadu has enjoined the people of Oyo state to ensure they vote for the ruling party across board in the upcoming elections, this, just after presenting the party’s flag to the state’s gubernatorial candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.
In a famously characteristic way, the President signaled to the people as he repeatedly echoed “APC from top to bottom”, to a rousing cheer of the crowd.
Amidst a slew of promises to consolidate the gains of the past four years in the next four, President Buhari said that a vote for him at the federal level, plus a vote for Adebayo Adelabu and all other APC candidates will not only foster this consolidation of good governance, but it will also fasten it.
Just like it happened in 2015, an
other iconic crowd met the Presidential campaign train at Mapo, such that as early as 7am, the Bere and Idi Arere route to the Mapo Hall HD become a beehive of activities, with a horde of citizens and party faithful moved in droves to the venue.
The undisputed king of Fuji Music, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde KWAM 1, was on hand dishing out different numbers to the pleasure and admiration of the mammoth crowd, creating a great momentum ahead of the President’s arrival.
At exactly 12.10pm, the campaign train landed at the venue to shouts of Sai Baba Next Level, The Director General of the Presidential Campaign Organization, Rotimi Amaechi mounted the rostrum with an appeal to the electorate in the state to troop out with their PVC to vote massively for the APC assuring them that the country would be the better for it in all ramifications.
In his own words, Governor Ajimobi used biblical allegory to highlight the difference between APC from the PDP.
“It’s a difference between light and darkness, between accountability and impunity, between hope and hopelessnees, between security and insecurity, between truthfulness and lies. This is why I admonish us to keep our PVCs and vote massively for the APC in all the elections begining from February 16, next month”, Ajimobi enthused in his characteristic humourous and blunt style.
Other speakers at the rally included, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s national Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, VP Professor Yemi Osinbajo, all who echoed the need for the people to vote en masse for the APC at all levels to prevent the disruption of good governance.
A major highlight of the rally however remains the moment when President Buhari presented the party’s flag to the Adebayo Adelabu, a moment which drew a tumultous applause from the crowd. It happened to be the gubernatorial candidate’s state with history, as it was there, the same Mapo Hall, that was the seat of Ibadan Municipal Government where his grandfather, the Late Chief Olasupo Adegoke Oduola Adelabu, ruled with so much admiration and was loved for his pragmatic and proactive leadershilp which centred on the wellbeing of the people.
